What is the GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a regulation of the European Union which constitutes the reference text for the protection of personal data. It strengthens and unifies data protection for individuals in the European Union. The regulation came into effect on May 25, 2018.

The GDPR, according to the principle of intellectual property of confidential information, grants citizens the following rights:

  • Access his personal data
  • Know how the data is used
  • Request that errors be corrected
  • Limit the processing of his data
  • Get and reuse your personal data
  • Deny certain uses
  • Request the withdrawal of data (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Request an explanation for automated decisions
  • Be informed if a leak is detected

Where does the GDPR apply?

The GDPR applies to the 28 countries in the European area and to all companies dealing in some way with the data of the citizens of Europe.

Am I concerned by the GDPR?

The GDPR concerns any website that collects and analyzes information such as name and surname, postal address, telephone number, bank details, etc. That being said, every WebSelf user is concerned by this law.

Which of my personal data is being collected?

We collect and process your first name, last name, address, email address, password, phone number, IP address, connection data and navigation data, order history and preferences.

Some data is automatically collected because of your actions on the site, other information can be transmitted by partners.

We collect the information that you provide us, especially when:

  • you create your customer account on our website
  • you place an order on our website
  • you browse our website
  • you participate in a game or contest
  • you publish your website
  • you contact our customer service
  • you write a comment
  • you view our ads

How do we use the information we collect?

About your WebSelf website

Changes to your privacy policies and Google Analytics

This new regulation will probably change some aspects of your terms of use and terms of sale if you have an online store.

First, you must update your privacy policies to comply with the GDPR rule. In these legal notices, we must find:

  • The person in charge of gathering the information
  • Data retention period
  • Purpose of the data collected
  • User Rights Information

You need to keep a record of clear and accurate processing of your data and you must respond to solicitations on the data you collect.

If you use Google Analytics, you must follow these three steps to be compliant.

  1. Go to analytics, click Admin, Account Setting, view the change, and then click Finish.
  2. Then to declare the administrators of the data you collect, simply click on Administration, Account Setting, Manage DPA Details and complete the three conditions of the GDPR (Main Contract, Contract of your DPO and a representative of the Economic Area European). Note that only the main contract is to be completed for small structures.
  3. You will be required to set up a data retention period. To do this you need to click on the property, administration part, tracking information, data retention and finally choose a retention time.

Options we added to help you comply with the GDPR

  1. We added a checkbox on the contact form to collect the consent of your visitor
  2. You can delete data from your customers via form data, polls and contacts
  3. You can update your online store Privacy Policy
  4. You can delete customer data from your online shop- In progress
  5. We modified the cookie warning management bar- In progress

** These options are disabled by default, it is up to you to activate them according to the legal obligations of your country of residence in order to comply to the legislation.
